Council Action: A motion was made by Councilmember Turner, second by Councilmember Offenbecher, to approve the consent agenda. There was no vote.

Councilmember Malloy discussed his interest in changing the wording in the resolution regarding the provision of services to Fire District #11 to include language regarding the failed opportunity for the North Puyallup area to annex to the city. He also suggested that the resolution reflect the intent of the city council not to extend service to the area beyond the date of December 31, 2006. He continued to explain that by putting the area on notice, a sense of urgency would be evident in relation to the annexation petition effort. Councilmember Martin stated his preference that consideration be provided to the annexation petition gatherers before determining a date to cease EMS and fire services to the area. Mr. Bacon explained that it was technically correct that the contract for services expires on December 31, 2006. He added that the council would be able to extend that date if so desired.

Council Action: A motion was made by Councilmember Brouillet, and was seconded, to approve all items on the Consent Agenda except for the resolution extending an interlocal agreement with Fire District No. 11 relative to the provision of fire protection and emergency medical services.

The motion passed 7-0.
